Requests to Parade participants

Move forward smoothly without stopping the flow of the line.

Try to stay in line and move forward without stopping. Follow instructions from volunteer staff (wearing the staff T shirt).

Refrain from showing too much bare skin.

You will be walking on public roads in the daytime, so do not expose your genitals or breasts and refrain from wearing clothes such as jockstraps which show bare bottoms.

Marching and dancing require permission.

Any group that is planning a group activity such as marching and dancing must contact the Executive Committee to obtain permission beforehand. Even in that case, no choreography involving standing still is permitted.

Use of vehicles is not permitted.

You cannot participate in the Parade on a private vehicle. Unicycles, bicycles, in-line skates and other items that become unstable when moving slowly are also prohibited.

To distribute handouts or other materials, contact the Executive Committee first and follow its rules.

Due to disposal problems, handouts, leaflets, flyers, etc. are not allowed to be delivered by hand in the vicinity of the Parade course. If you have something to distribute, contact the Executive Committee beforehand and follow its rules.

Consider others when you take photos or film videos.

Some participants may not want to be photographed or filmed. If you want to photograph or film a particular person, get her/his permission first. In principle, you are allowed to photograph/film objects on the stage and the fenced area in front of the stage. Some programs and some seats, however, prohibit photographing/filming. Check for more details on the Parade day.

In areas other than the above, you are allowed to take photos and film videos from a distance, which will not distinguish individual faces. At the Parade, you are allowed to photograph/film objects anywhere but “no photo/filming” blocks. While forming a line for the Parade, however, no photographing/filming is permitted in any block (“block” represents a group of 200 to 250 people and the Parade is divided into multiple blocks).

If you are thinking about using any image you have photographed/filmed in a media report, on a website, blog or other media, you must receive guidance at the press reception desk under the reception tent.

What are “no photo/filming” blocks?

The Parade provides some “no photo/filming” blocks, where photographing and filming are prohibited.

If you don’t want to be photographed or filmed while you are forming a line and walking in the Parade, ask for a “no photo/filming” block at the reception prior to your participation in the Parade. It should be noted, however, that you may still be photographed or filmed accidentally (*), so those who are concerned should take precautions such as wearing sunglasses and a hat. Due to safety reasons, Parade participants are not allowed to use cameras during the Parade.

* The Executive Committee takes no responsibility for any damage caused to you by being photographed or filmed.

Requests from the first-aid section

As the Parade may be held under the scorching sun, it is quite possible to get heatstroke or other heat-related symptoms. Take plenty of water and rest during the Parade. If you don’t feel well or notice an abnormal physical condition, do not hesitate to visit the first-aid tent. Also, if you don’t know where the first-aid tent is or you don’t feel confident enough to walk to the tent, do not hesitate to ask the nearest staff for assistance.

Apart from heatstroke, you should also visit the first-aid tent, if you get injured or notice the slightest change in your physical condition. First-aid staff will be there to help you.

Take good care of your health and enjoy the Parade thoroughly!
